Johnny Larry Greer age 70, passed away on March 11, 2024 with his family lovingly at his side.
Born on August 28, 1953 to Martha Ellen (Britt) Greer in Pikeville, TN. He moved to Mansfield as a small toddler. He was a 1971 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Larry worked at Lennox Machine Inc. for many years. In 1982, Larry proudly purchased his uncles welding shop (GT Welding) which he owned and operated for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his children Judy (John) Fisher of Shelby, Ohio, Randy (Guenever) Greer of Mansfield, Ohio, James Greer of Semora, North Carolina, Angela (Dave Harris) Thomas of Mansfield, Ohio, and Elizabeth (Terry) Ward of Butler, Ohio. His first wife and close friend Elizabeth Diane Hamilton, and their grandchildren Olivia, Owen, Olyssa Fisher; Logan (Taylur), Jacob, Tristan Greer; Kyla Doubek; Kirsten (Nathan) Price; Brandon (Alexis Emrich) Corwin; Griffin (Kaden Brown) Thompson, Carter (Faye) Thompson. Two great-granddaughters Eloise Greer and Emily Corwin. His two brothers James (Wanda) Greer of Mansfield, Ohio and Harold (Patricia) Greer of Martinsville, Indiana.
Larry was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. If you were ever in need, he would be there. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. All who knew him knew that he could be a stubborn man but rest assured, it was simply a “family” trait.
His children would be the first to tell you that he was a strict but hard-working father who did his best every day to provide for them. His grandkids would be the first to tell you about how much fun they would have breaking rules and running around the neighborhood with their “Papaw”. Everyone would agree that he was a devoted family man and loved his family greatly.
Larry is preceded in death by Martha Ann Greer (Wife), Marth Ellen Greer (Mother) and Linda Joyce Perkins (Sister).
In remembrance of Larry the family kindly request donations be made to the OhioHealth Foundation or to the Richland County Dog shelter in honor of his best friend, Jake; the most loveable and loyal dog he could’ve asked for.
The family will welcome family and friends to celebrate the life of Larry on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory located at 33 North Gamble Street Shelby, Ohio. There will be no funeral at the request of Larry.
