Janet Staton

Janet (Risner) Staton age 79, passed away in her home Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Born June 6, 1944 in Detroit, MI to Coonie and Effie Mae (Barnett) Risner, she had been a Shelby resident since 1970.

Janet was a 1963 graduate of Willard High School and a member of the Messiah House of Prayer in Shiloh. She enjoyed going to church, talking on the phone with her sister and most of all spending time with her daughters and granddaughters. 

She is survived by her three daughters Christina Goodyear, LaVon Staton, & MaLisa Staton all of Shelby; three granddaughters Adrianna Hope Goodyear and Tori Elizabeth (Trevor) Tallman, Ronna Staton; one great granddaughter Iris Tallman; one sister Anna Jean Holida of Willard; numerous stepchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Junior Staton in 2023; infant daughter Michelle Lee; son Ronnie Staton; grandson Lee Staton; infant grandson Jayden Staton; special niece Linda Gibson; seven siblings Vana Mae Bolen, Bill Risner, Michael Risner, Helen Feltner, Revia Mcaff, Lotan Risner, and Christine Risner.

Friends may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Tuesday, March, 19, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, the 20th, at the Messiah House of Prayer at 74 Pettit St, Shiloh, Oh 44878 with Reverend Bill Howell officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Barkdull Funeral Home at PO Box 644 Shelby, OH 44875, to help offset funeral costs.
